Millions of Patient Records Digitized For White-Wilson Medical Center

In Delray, Florida--Digital Records, Inc (DigiRecs) recently used a Kodak i4000 scanner to transform paper based patient files into a computer files to store in a discrete and private "world" within White-Wilson Medical Center. About 70 physicians can have access to these files to help get information for the past. Instead of using paper-based charts to find out past patient history to help for the future, the new world of technology has open the doors to many new opportunity.  I think this is a new and improved way for where to access patient information. Soon, everyone's file will be digitized, we are stepping into the future.

80 Percent of Doctors Use Smartphone Apps Everyday

We live in a realistic world! Sometimes it's incredible hard to remember dosing, diagnosis, lab tests etc. Many doctors have admitted that they use smartphone apps multiple times per day. I would rather have a doctor have the information on hand than guess. By having the smartphone on hand, it protects doctors and patients everyday.

56 Million Patients Have Accessed Medical Information from Electronic Health Records

In New York City, there has been a study done that shows about 56 million patients having access to their medical records (that is updated by the physician) through an electronic health record (EHR) systems. Even though many patients are embracing this new form of getting their records, I wouldn't want to have it in a system. For the patients who aren't very well experience with how a computer works or how to access their information or speak a different language that the website offers can hinder a patients trust with a physician and can make a patient not wanting to seek out for help from their physicians because they don't want to feel embarrassed about their lack of skills. Even though it seems like a great idea to have your medical information at your finger tips at any moment in time, I would rather not have more information about me on the internet. I want to try to stay as private as can be.

I have yet to be an expected mother, but I know once when that happens, I would sign up for this free messages because it would make me feel at ease and I would know how my baby us developing.

I think that this form of technology is very important for women to have. It would keep them in tract and making sure they are taking the proper care every pregnant woman should take to have a healthy baby.

Rite Aid, OptumHealth Introduce Online Consultations

Rite Aid (Camp Hill, Pa.) and OptumHealth (Golden Valley, Minn.) have decided to open the doors to technology and have online consultations with patients to discuss symptoms, disease management etc.

I think this is a terrible idea! Consultations shouldn't be done through the computer, it should remain person-to-person contact. Let say the internet goes out or someone walks in from behind, you lose your privacy.  During an "on-line consultation" one might not feel that connection as one would feel doing it in person. Some things should be computer based, but when it comes to consultation, that should just remain as it always is...IN PERSON!

I think the creators have a good idea about the future for STD results, since we all live in such a technological world. Our cellphones are attached to us, so it makes sense to have results at your fingertips. The idea is that you will receive a text either confirming or denying any STD so you can go around and basically sleep with anyone. At the same time, I do not like the idea that possibly someone can find out personally information via a text. I believe that we shouldn't move towards the future of text-messaging for such  personal information , I think it should be plain and simple. You go to a clinic, get a blood test, and they call you telling you the results. 


The company has a good idea, but I wouldn't support it.
